Chicago, Aug 15-21
LAB-Arts announces a new collaborative workshop/intensive in Contemporary Music and Dance in Chicago in August 2016!
Some of Chicago’s best contemporary performers in music and dance will serve as mentors and coaches to selected participants. Faculty musicians include Grammy-Award-winners, professors from DePaul, Northern Illinois, Roosevelt, and Indiana universities, and dance faculty include current and former members of Hubbard Street Dance and River North Dance Chicago. Daily rehearsals will take place in the heart of downtown at the historic Fine Arts Building located just steps away from Grant and Millennium parks, the Art Institute, and the Lake Michigan. The week will culminate in a public performance in a nearby building of architectural significance and interest (site to be announced soon!). In addition to regular rehearsals, which comprise the bulk of the work for the week, special sessions will be offered in technique, improvisation, movement for musicians, Brazilian Capoeira, rehearsal technique, and the relationship of music and choreography.
